Pastor John Leonard Harris is the Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska (www.fbclincoln.org). He was most recently the Senior Pastor of Christ Temple Mission Church in Lincoln where he served for eight years (six years as the Associate Pastor). He provided administrative, technical and educational ministry for the church and oversight for the Worship, Christian Education, Missions and Evangelism and Special Project ministries.
He also taught the weekly Bible study, created the "Winning the Battle Within" men's ministry and organized youth rallies.
Prior to his pastorate, Pastor Harris served as Director of Church Relations at the People's City Mission and Coordinator of Men's Ministry for City Impact, Inc. His Biblical and practical preaching has touched the hearts of people in the states and has reached around the world to Africa and China.
In 2002, Pastor Harris founded Encouragement Unlimited, Inc., a nonprofit organization that seeks to be a resource to people from all walks of life. His work with people (young and old) and His work to bring people together has garnered him awards. He is an award-winning writer, actor, singer and poet.
Pastor Harris has one primary goal, "that people that don't know Jesus will know Him and those people who know Him will know Him better!"
Pastor Harris' desire is that people realize their God-given potential while seeking to build God's kingdom. He offers programs and services to help people live a life of purpose.
His greatest gifts are his wife, Charlene of 31 years and his four children (Preston, Shannon, JoAnna, and John Jr.) They have two grandchildren (Eli and Legend).
